The SMLL London testbed is enabled by a unique and sophisticated set of infrastructure. Roadside monitoring equipment, technology connectivity using a range of protocols, an extensive data platform and a complex road environment create a complete and challenging real-world urban testbed. These facilities provide comprehensive and detailed test and trial evaluation and data for all kinds of CAVs, infrastructure, services and components.


SMLL’s London testbed INSTRUMENTED ROADS

24km of highly instrumented urban roads, with roadside connectivity and monitoring equipment installed across the whole testbed:

  • 276 CCTV units that support day and night testing

  • 10 pop-up monitoring sites

  • 36 connected traffic lights

  • 40 V2X roadside units

  • 203 Wireless Access Points

  • Environmental monitoring stations

  • C-V2X

  • Differential GPS

  • Customers can add additional sensors for specialist applications, such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and ITS
