Chaired by Christopher Kettell, Chief Technologist at TRL, focusing on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Urban Traffic Control (UTC), SCOOT, and MOVA. Chris is an expert in research, development and technology innovation. He plays a crucial role in developing and delivering technology strategies that underpin all products and potential new offerings, maintaining TRL's reputation as innovators in the ITS field.

On the panel are:

Miranda Sharp, founder of Metis Digital Ltd, connects data and organisations to value. Her interest is in the new business models that will be required when data is used as a business asset to make better decisions. Alongside this, she is working on the value of data at the ODI, acting as a NED at TRL, trustee to the Centre for Cities think tank and member of the Mayor of London’s Infrastructure Advisory Panel. Previously at the National Digital Twin programme, Ordnance Survey and Royal Mail, she has worked in value creation from data for over 10 years.

Martin Smith, has worked for Aviva for 40 years during which time he has handled all categories of motor claims in UK & Europe. More recently he is working with other parts of the business dealing with policy wording drafting, contract law and regulation relating to motor insurance. He also focuses on the effect new technologies has on motor insurance products and how to provide customers with effective cover. He has worked closely with ABI & Thatcham on the progression towards automated driving and insurance.

Alex Glassbrook is a barrister, Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Imperial College London, and author of pioneering tech law books: ‘The Law of Driverless Cars: An Introduction’ (Law Brief Publishing, 2017, 2nd edn 2019 with Emma Northey and Scarlett Milligan) and ‘Advanced, Automated and Electric Vehicle Law’ (Bloomsbury Professional, 2024). He is expert in the law of new transport technologies including e-scooters, e-bikes, micro mobility vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated (‘self-driving’, ‘autonomous’ or ‘driverless’) vehicles.
