SMLL and April Six worked together in 2021 to create an essential resource for anyone involved in the development of transport: a Global Directory of Autonomy, it mapped the key OEMs and entrepreneurs active in 2021 in the creation of highly automated transport and personal mobility solutions. There are no plans to update the Directory but it remains a useful reference document to segment the market due to its innovative classification system.
‘The Global Directory of Autonomy’ lists hundreds of organisations from around the world whose products and concepts could become part of the fabric of future transport globally. It provided a snapshot of the autonomous technology market and provided a launch point for researchers to take a deeper dive into the sector and create their own view of the sector, for example by technology type, by country, by technology readiness, by market capitalisation values, by collaborations or any other perspective.
Classifications
The boundaries between hardware and software are blurring. Infrastructure, vehicle and personal technology is no longer clearly defined. Traditional classification makes no sense in this rapidly evolving sector.
In this Directory we have created a new classification system to bridge the gap between our understanding of current transport systems, and what they might become in the future.
Please note that due to the international nature and diverse interests of many companies listed, some may appear in several classifications and in any of the three regions EMEA, Americas or APAC.
The Directory content was curated without prejudice by the Smart Mobility Living Lab.
The design and structure of the Directory is the work of the creative team at April Six, a specialist mobility marketing agency with more than 37 years of experience in automotive and mobility. April Six are also enthusiastic members of the SMLL Innovation Community.
